Coming up: Apple and Pear Crisp and BBQ Spare Ribs

It has been a hectic week and although I've kept up with my cooking, I haven't had the time to update this blog. I'm working on a take home midterm on rogers communications and thats due this Friday. Pretty interesting case and I got to create a survey on market research for mobile services. On that note, I got blocked from the facebook messaging feature because I was sending the survey link on chat "too fast". With the midterm due in 2 days, it really isn't a very good time. I also need to juggle my time so I can proctor 4 hours a night for 2nd year exams, and study for another midterm next week. Somewhere in          between, I'll need to find time to mark 80 1st year midterms. Should be fun :)

So a couple of days ago I had some very ripe pears on hand and needed to use them up. Not sure what ripe pears are good for but I tried combining it with apples and cinnamon to make a nice fruit crumble. It wasnt a hard recipe, no pie crust needed. as for the topping, I didn't have any old fashioned oats but I found something else in my cupboards that worked a hundred times better! I won't spoil the surprise...

Ribs were also on sale at Loblaws and I got 2 kilos of side ribs for 10 dollars. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering that the same amount of baby back ribs cost 55 dollars. They always tell you back ribs are better because there's more meat and less fat, but for that price difference, I'll stick to my side ribs.
I used my all time favorite spice rub: paprika, white sugar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and whatever else you have in the pantry.

I'll probably post the recipes this weekend during procrastination.
